About Myself ‐ Who I Am
The best thing I can do is the most with my abilities. In this way, I am an asset to my work, as an artist, carefully creative and, as a person, completely passionate.
Hello, my name is Christopher Sugatan Fornesa and this is a digital archive of my work. So what do I mean by my work? I mean the internal exploration of my psyche that may be sparked by a single idea. The simple manner by which I enjoy the expression of my beliefs. However I may embrace my creative energy at the present moment for my own appreciation, and those of others', in the future. The truth is that my existence and the experience derivative of such an existence is what gives energy to my work.
I am a creative: an artist and web developer.
I am passionate: as an advocate (for myself and others) and a student.
The Story Of Chris Fornesa ‐ Why I Am
What makes my experience unique is the plethora of identities that I can claim because I am many things, as I highlight in my narrative art piece. While I have specialized in painting and drawing, I am working to expand to other media, notably in graphic and web design. My goals are resultant of the struggles that I've faced in my life. But while many only see these struggles as suffering, ultimately, I immerse myself in those strong emotions to allow the healing process to start. When I engage in any creative act (like drawing, painting or website creation) or explore my own psyche and get lost in the world stored within my mind, I give myself space and energy to heal from the troubles of the external world. But most of all, I see my narrative as one that's simply part of the human experience. I feel as if I can make my contribution to society through the manifestation of my skills and abilities.
However, as a human being (especially as one with creative tendencies), I do have reservations and fears when it comes to what my future holds. But the hope I have and the strength I gain every single day that I struggle will ultimately result in a bright future. I still feel the pain, at times, that I have had to endure for years of either hiding, denial, or facing my own ignorance and that of others. However, enduring this pain only strengthens me and allows me to channel into my soul and funnel the energy I receive into creative, and other productive, means. This is why I have the passion that I have for making art, for writing, design, for my education, for advocacy, and for my all of my future goals. I choose to face my fears head-on because I find this act, while insignificant on a macro scale, to be significant for being the hero that I have always wanted to be. By keeping my integrity and the courage to continue on, I know that not only will my future remain bright, but I will lead others to making better choices with their lives as well.
How Do I Innovate?
I call this my innovation portfolio because, as a Liberal Studies major at the University of Houston, I have a truly interdisciplinary perspective while, at the same time, the multiple forms of consciousness that I have add to this unique viewpoint. Thus, any type of endeavor that I partake in involves this awareness of different subject matters beyond that specific type. This gives significant variance in, not only my thought processes, but also in my creative work.
